Honestly, I say this in the most respectful way I possibly can. If you thought this was 100% genuine and not on purpose, you are a fucking moron.
Here is why:
It is simple. Oscar ratings have been severely down in the last few years. Maybe because 90% of these movies nobody has seen are nominated. Like last night the only three things I recognized were Manchester by the Sea, Zootopia and that short movie they played before Finding Dory with the seagulls. Those were the only ones I have seen from the rest of the nominations. Just shows no one else really cares if the movie they either watched or enjoyed was in it. Or that the entire thing has become liberal propaganda for three hours with these Cadillac commercials trying to change the world or Hollywood billionaires telling us we need to change at every acceptance speech. Or maybe that certain had money on Casey Affleck winning best actor so that kept us up past midnight to see if he would take it home. Just throwing out guesses.
Or how about that Jimmy fucking Kimmel of all people hosted this thing? The guy who is well-known to pull pranks on all of America every night show he does? Come on. Use a brain once for me America.
But you want to know the reason I wrote this blog and feel the need to spread awareness about this PR move? Because everyone fell right into Jimmy Kimmel’s rabbit hole.
Here is a few screen shots from my Twitter:
Everyone fell right into the trap. I can not say I blame Kimmel or the Oscars for this move but it hurts that people actually believed this was a real. No shit they did this for the views and the social media blow up (and it worked). We are in February with zero football other than mock drafts with Mel Kiper telling us Davis Webb is the next Aaron Rodgers, March Madness is still not here while we have nothing but NBA teams tanking and baseball spring training to talk about. And for non-sports people, other than rambling about Trump on Facebook or the Walking Dead that should’ve ended three seasons ago, their is nothing else to discuss. This is the perfect storm for the Oscars to come in and start something like this for us to talk about for weeks and have requiring viewers come next year.
I’m not saying I hate the move, but I just want to make sure everyone stays woke and knows this was clearly on purpose.
